Ep 5. Mac & Charlie Die (1)

Mac and Charlie take a rather different approach when it comes to trying to get attention from a local news station. They attempt to stage their own deaths in the hopes that the station will air a memorial in their honor, however things don't quite go as planned.

Meanwhile, Dennis and Dee set out to make their fantasies come true. Dennis wants to be pimped out by Dee, while Dee wants to be able to smash a guy's skull with a hammer. The two of them end up hiring a random homeless man to act as a pimp and a prostitute, but once again things don't go according to plan.

Frank, who is tired of living in squalor inside Paddy's Pub, decides to try and spruce the place up a bit. He does an incredibly half-assed job of renovating, which results in him nearly electrocuting himself. Despite this, he still manages to convince a group of health inspectors that the bar is now a five-star establishment.

As the episode unfolds, it quickly becomes apparent that Mac and Charlie's staged deaths have had some unintended consequences. While initially horrified at the thought of their friends dying, Dennis and Dee realize that the situation may work to their advantage. They try to use Mac and Charlie's "deaths" to their own ends, but as is often the case with this group, things quickly spiral out of control.

Overall, "Mac & Charlie Die (1)" is a prime example of what makes this show so great. It's absurd, dark, and hilarious all at once, and it's impossible not to be amused by the gang's various misadventures. If you're a fan of black comedy and don't mind a bit of cringe-inducing humor, you'll definitely want to check out this episode. Just be prepared to feel equal parts entertained and horrified.
