Jekyll and Hyde season 1, episode 1 "The Harbinger" sets the stage for this thrilling and chilling series that follows the complex and mysterious Dr. Robert Jekyll. Matters are further complicated when his adoptive father, Dr. Vishal Najaran (played by Ace Bhatti) is brutally murdered in their home.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Dr. Jekyll begins to discover a whole new side of himself. He discovers that he is able to transform into a powerful, dangerous alter-ego, or "Hyde". This alter-ego is imbued with extraordinary strength and agility, as well as a deep-seated desire for violence and chaos.
As Dr. Jekyll grapples with this newfound power and tries to understand the truth about his past, he is drawn into a web of deceit and intrigue that takes him deep into the underbelly of London's shadowy criminal underworld. Along the way, he is aided by several key characters, including the beautiful and mysterious Lily Clarke (played by Natalie Gumede), a skilled actress with her own dark past.
While the plot is rife with suspense and intrigue, what really sets Jekyll and Hyde apart is its incredibly rich and detailed universe. The show is set in a fantastical, alternate-reality version of Victorian England, complete with steampunk-inspired gadgets, exotic locales, and a variety of supernatural creatures and phenomena. The series also boasts an impressive cast of characters, each with their own distinct personalities and motivations.
