King Gary is a British sitcom that premiered on BBC One in the UK in 2018. The show is centred around the character of Gary King, a working-class man from the fictional town of Butterchurn Crescent. The show is known for its sharp wit and relatable characters, and has been praised for its honest depiction of working-class life in modern-day Britain.

Season 1, Episode 1 of King Gary is titled "Episode 1" and introduces us to the titular character, Gary King. The episode begins with Gary waking up in his bed in Butterchurn Crescent alongside his wife, Terri. We quickly learn that Gary is an ambitious man who dreams of a better life for himself and his family. However, he is also fiercely proud of his working-class roots and the close-knit community of Butterchurn Crescent.

Gary's plans for the day begin with a trip to the local car boot sale, where he hopes to make a killing selling his old junk. In typical King fashion, he is full of big ideas and grand plans, convinced that he will strike it rich. However, things don't go quite as planned when he is unable to sell any of his items at the sale.

Undaunted, Gary decides to host his own indoor car boot sale at his home. He enlists the help of his best friend, Stuart, to help promote the sale and attract potential buyers. The two men print flyers and hang them up around the neighbourhood, hoping to drum up interest.

As the day of the sale approaches, Gary becomes increasingly determined to make it a success. He spends hours organising and pricing his items, turning his living room into a makeshift store. However, just as the sale is about to begin, Gary's arch-nemesis, Big Gary, shows up and starts causing trouble.

Big Gary, as his name suggests, is a much larger and more intimidating version of the show's protagonist. He is also a fellow resident of Butterchurn Crescent and has a long-standing rivalry with Gary. The two men butt heads throughout the episode, with Big Gary constantly trying to one-up Gary at every turn.

Despite Big Gary's interference, the car boot sale eventually gets underway. However, things quickly go awry when one of Gary's customers accidentally smashes a valuable vase he had for sale. The situation quickly spirals out of control, with Gary's neighbours getting involved in the drama.

As the chaos erupts around him, Gary begins to lose hope that his dreams of success will ever come true. However, in a moment of unexpected kindness, his neighbours band together to help him out of his predicament. They pool their resources and buy all of Gary's unsold items, allowing him to recoup some of his losses.

The episode ends on a positive note, with Gary and Terri reflecting on the events of the day. Though they didn't make the fortune they had hoped for, they are grateful for the support of their neighbours and the community of Butterchurn Crescent.

Overall, Episode 1 of King Gary sets the tone for the rest of the series. It is a fast-paced and sharply funny episode that introduces us to the show's main characters and establishes the world of Butterchurn Crescent. Through Gary's struggles and triumphs, we are given a glimpse into the challenges and joys of working-class life in modern-day Britain.
