After mourning the passing of his father, Jim Jefferies realized he wants to make amends with his mother while also repairing his relationship with his brother Steve. In episode 6 of Legit's first season, titled "Family," Jim makes an effort to strengthen the bond with his family members.

The episode begins with Jim and Billy discussing Jim's father's funeral. Billy tries to comfort Jim as best as he can, but awkwardly tries to disguise his words by adding humor to each sentence. Billy suggests that Jim should spend time with his family now that his father has passed away. Jim disagrees, telling Billy he doesn't want to return to Australia to see his family.

Later on, Jim goes to see his mom, Janice (played by Mindy Sterling), at her home. Jim is hesitant, as he and his mother haven't been on good terms since he left Australia. The tension between them is palpable, and Jim tries to break the ice by cracking jokes and lightening the mood. However, it becomes clear that Janice is still hurt by Jim's absence, and their conversation ends on an awkward note.

In an attempt to repair their relationship, Jim and his brother Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) plan a fishing trip in Big Bear. During the trip, Jim tries to bond with Steve, who doesn't seem too interested in spending time with him. However, as they continue to fish and drink together, Steve opens up about his personal struggles. Steve tells Jim that he lost his job and is in a difficult financial situation. He also confesses that he feels like a failure compared to Jim's success in Hollywood.

The conversation between the brothers leads to a moment of realization for Jim. He sees that his family is going through a tough time, and he empathizes with them. It becomes apparent to Jim that he can use his resources and success to help his family, so he decides to give Steve a job opportunity in Los Angeles.

That night, Jim and Steve continue to bond and reminisce about the past. They share a heartfelt moment where they express their love for each other, and Jim apologizes for being a bad brother. The next morning, Jim tells Steve that he wants him to come to Los Angeles to work with him.

The episode concludes with Jim and Billy discussing his family and how they've been doing. Jim tells Billy that he wants to try and be a better son and brother, and that he plans on bringing Steve over to Los Angeles to start working with him. The two friends share a moment of reflection, and Jim acknowledges the importance of family and the need for human connection.

In "Family," Legit takes a more serious tone as Jim confronts the fractured relationships in his family. The episode does an excellent job of examining the complexities of family dynamics and the emotions that come with loss and distance. Legit manages to balance humor with sentimentality, delivering a poignant and touching episode that showcases the show's depth and versatility.
