Ep 6. Andy

Andy is the sixth episode of the first season of the American romantic comedy television series Love. The episode initially aired on February 19, 2016, on Netflix. It was directed by Steve Buscemi and written by Gillian Robespierre.

The episode centers around Gus' job and his interaction with his new boss, Andy. After Gus repeatedly disobeys his new rules, Andy turns up the heat on him by undermining his efforts and calling him out in front of his colleagues. Meanwhile, Mickey is put in a position that makes her uncomfortable when she is asked to confront her wealthy boss about his behavior towards women.

Gus is starting to find it difficult to navigate his new position as a studio teacher. He finds it hard to teach scripts he doesn't believe in and even harder to give students' poor performances good reviews. Gus' new boss Andy, played by guest star Kyle Kinane, isn't making things any easier for him. Andy is brash, foul-mouthed and has a chip on his shoulder, but he is still the boss. As Gus navigates Andy's business ethics and moral qualms, he finds himself at odds with his own values.

In the midst of a hectic workday, Mickey is confronted by her wealthy boss, Dr. Greg Colter. Colter tried to kiss Mickey while she was in his office. Despite the fact that he's married, he doesn't seem to comprehend the inappropriateness of his actions. Mickey struggles to find the right words to broach the subject with him and finds herself disgusted and conflicted as she trades jokes with her male co-workers in the break room. When he touches her again, she snaps. With a mix of anger and vulnerability, Mickey confronts Dr. Colter, leading to an explosive confrontation.

Back at the studio, things aren't getting any easier for Gus. Andy has taken it upon himself to get his point across to Gus by undermining his efforts in front of his peers and calling him out for being a "yes-man." When Gus faces criticism from a colleague he admires, he is forced to take a stand and assert his own professional standards. He confronts Andy publicly, knowing his words will be judged by everyone in the room.

Throughout the episode, it is evident that Mickey and Gus are struggling to find themselves and deal with overwhelming situations. The episode illustrates how difficult it can be to navigate professional relationships while staying true to your values and staying true to yourself. Andy is a particularly complicated character, who pushes Gus to the brink and tests his strength of character. As always, Love shows the complexities of relationships and the struggles of navigating adult life.
