- 4 Seasons
Family, parenting and dating have one word in common: humorously complicated. When straight-laced Valerie moves in with her bachelor brother Alex after a divorce, accompanied by her daughter Laura, the complications of dating land them in embarrassing and hilarious situations. As a successful founder of a popular dating website, good looking 35-year-old Alex has no problems getting dates, but is a little too commitment phobic to keep anybody around. His sister Valerie, a therapist who tends to overthink things (maybe obsess is a better word), can get the dates, but has the issue of scaring them away. Compared to the adults in her life, 16-year-old Laura's dating life seems simple. Ordinary teenage make-out sessions, which thanks to her mother's enlightened attitude are uninterrupted. Combining dating awkwardness and family loyalty, Casual showcases different aspects of dating: the newness of teenage exploration, complications of adult commitment and the unpleasant reentry of the divorcee, all while keeping it casual.
