Ep 2. The Dark & The Mysterious

The second episode of season 2 of Lucha Underground, titled "The Dark & The Mysterious," introduces the viewers to a few new characters while highlighting the tension between others.

The first wrestler we meet is a masked man known as Kobra Moon. She's accompanied by two soldiers, who lead her into the arena where she faces off against Mascarita Sagrada, a wrestler known for his high-flying moves. The match is an entertaining one, with both wrestlers displaying their skills and Kobra's impressive agility stealing the show. In the end, Kobra Moon manages to pin Mascarita, earning her first victory in the temple.

We then move on to a series of backstage segments where we see the tension between various wrestlers. First up are Fenix and Drago, two former allies whose friendship has been strained since they were forced to fight each other in a previous season. Fenix tries to make amends with Drago, but the latter is still angry about what happened and refuses to forgive him.

Next up is The Mack, who we see in a conversation with Prince Puma. The Mack suspects that Puma played a role in Dario Cueto's disappearance and warns him to stay away from him. Puma denies any involvement and tells The Mack that he's his friend.

We then move on to the main event of the night, which sees Johnny Mundo defending his Lucha Underground Championship against Cage. The match is a brutal one, with both wrestlers taking their fair share of punishment. The action spills out of the ring and into the crowd, with Cage smashing Mundo through a table. However, Mundo manages to recover and hit Cage with a crushing End of the World for the victory.

The episode ends with a segment outside of the temple, where we see Dario Cueto's brother Matanza being held in a cell. The mysterious figure known as Black Lotus approaches him and reveals that she has a plan to free him. We're left with a cliffhanger, wondering what exactly Black Lotus has in store for Matanza and what her ultimate goal is.
