The New Enemy/The Doppelganger is the fourth episode of season 1 of Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head. The episode begins with Beavis and Butt-Head being hired to clean the gutters of an old lady's house. While on the job, they notice a new neighbor moving in across the street. They become suspicious of him when they see him doing strange things through his windows.
Beavis and Butt-Head decide to investigate the new neighbor and go over to his house. While they are looking through his window, the neighbor catches them and invites them in. He introduces himself as Mr. Manners, and Beavis and Butt-Head are surprised to find out that he is actually a pretty decent guy. The boys are initially relieved that they don't have to deal with a new enemy.
Later that day, Beavis and Butt-Head go to the local burger joint to get some food. While they are there, they notice a guy who looks exactly like Butt-Head. They confront the guy, who introduces himself as Bum-Head. Beavis and Butt-Head are initially excited to have found a doppelganger, but soon become annoyed when Bum-Head starts following them around and copying everything they do.
Meanwhile, Mr. Manners starts to become increasingly suspicious to the boys. They begin to think that he may be some sort of serial killer, and they decide to spy on him. They climb over his fence and peek through his window, but they don't see anything suspicious. However, when they try to climb back over the fence, Beavis accidentally falls into a pile of leaves and gets stuck.
Mr. Manners comes outside to investigate the noise and finds Beavis. He helps Beavis up and invites the boys inside for some cookies. They are hesitant at first, but eventually agree to come inside. While they are inside, Mr. Manners reveals that he used to be a spy, and that he is currently investigating a group of terrorists who he believes may be operating in the area. Beavis and Butt-Head are relieved to find out that Mr. Manners is not a serial killer after all, but they are also disappointed that they don't have a new enemy.
The episode ends with Beavis and Butt-Head returning home. They are surprised to find that Bum-Head is still there, waiting for them. He invites himself inside and starts copying everything they say and do. Beavis and Butt-Head are annoyed, but they also seem to enjoy having a doppelganger around.
Overall, The New Enemy/The Doppelganger is a humorous and entertaining episode of Beavis and Butt-Head. It has all the classic hallmarks of the show, including the boys getting into trouble, their overactive imaginations, and their love of toilet humor. The episode also manages to tell two separate stories that converge nicely at the end. Fans of the show will definitely enjoy this episode.
