Ep 6. Episode 6

  • June 27, 2019

As the 18th season of the hit British comedy panel show, "Mock the Week," continues to entertain audiences with its sharp humor and clever takes on current events, Episode 6 offers up yet another hilarious round of satirical commentary.

Hosted by Dara Ó Briain, this episode sees six of the UK's funniest comedians take on the week's news stories and events, poking fun at politicians, celebrities, and the latest headlines. The regular panelists, including Hugh Dennis, Angela Barnes, Ed Gamble, and Maisie Adam, are joined by special guests Jen Brister and Andrew Maxwell, who bring their own unique perspective and wit to the table.

The episode kicks off with a round of "Headliners," in which the panelists are given an acronym and must come up with a mock news headline to fit it. The results are as varied as the panelists themselves, with jokes ranging from the topical (Brexit-related puns) to the absurd (a "hysterical elephant" makes an appearance).

Next up is "Answer the Question," a game in which the panelists take turns responding to increasingly absurd questions posed by Dara with even more absurd answers. This round is always a fan favorite, as the comedians showcase their improvisational skills and ability to come up with witty responses on the spot.

The episode also features a segment on "Things You Wouldn't Hear on a Nature Documentary," which allows the panelists to riff on the various quirks and oddities of the animal kingdom, as well as a round of "If this is the answer, what is the question?" in which the panelists must guess the question that would lead to a given answer (for example, "The Great British Bake Off" might prompt the question, "What's the best way to get through a rainy weekend?").

One highlight of the episode is the "Dating Videos" round, in which each panelist takes on the persona of a different character (from a cheap magician to someone who has just been released from prison) and delivers a hilariously bad dating video pitch. This round showcases the panelists' acting chops as well as their comedic timing, and never fails to get laughs from the audience.

Throughout the show, the panelists tackle a wide range of subjects, from the latest Brexit developments to the recent revelation that Prince Andrew had been friends with Jeffrey Epstein. They also take aim at some of the more bizarre news stories of the week, such as the woman who was arrested for bringing her pet peacock on a flight or the man who got stuck in a washing machine while trying to impress his date.

As always, the humor in "Mock the Week" is edgy and irreverent, but manages to steer clear of being mean-spirited or offensive. With the quick-fire pace of the games and the lively banter between the panelists, it's no wonder that the show has been a mainstay of British television for nearly two decades.

Overall, Episode 6 of "Mock the Week" is a must-watch for fans of political satire, improv comedy, and witty wordplay. Whether you're a long-time viewer or a newcomer to the show, this episode is guaranteed to have you laughing out loud and eagerly anticipating the next installment.
