Mock the Week Season 19 Episode 4 Episode 4
- November 19, 2020
Mock the Week is a British panel game show that features some of the sharpest and funniest comedians from around the country. Season 19 of the show consists of 10 episodes and episode 4 is a laugh riot as always!
The episode begins with host Dara Ó Briain introducing the panelists for the evening - Ed Gamble, Angela Barnes, Milton Jones, Nish Kumar, and Tiff Stevenson. The theme for the night is current affairs, and the comedians waste no time in diving into the week's most newsworthy events.
They start off by discussing the ongoing Brexit negotiations, and the panelists have a field day predicting what the future might hold for the UK. Ed Gamble jokes that the country will soon be reduced to trading seashells and tins of spam, while Angela Barnes wonders whether we'll all end up living in a currency-free society.
Next up is a round called "Newsreel," in which the panelists are shown a clip from the week's news and have to provide a humorous commentary on it. This time around, the clip is of Donald Trump's recent visit to the UK, and there are plenty of jokes to be had at the expense of the US president.
The show then moves on to "If This Is the Answer, What Is the Question?" where Dara provides an answer and the panelists have to guess what the question is. This round is always a favorite among viewers, and this episode is no exception. The questions range from the serious (What do scientists think was the cause of a recent earthquake in Indonesia?) to the absurd (What is the most common reason people give for not going to the gym?)
Another highlight of the episode is when the panelists are asked to come up with "Unlikely Things to Hear at a Music Festival." Milton Jones' suggestion of "Has anyone seen my form for the 100 meters?" gets one of the biggest laughs of the night. But it's Tiff Stevenson's comment on the #metoo movement - "I heard that James Brown was headlining, but he's been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances" - that has the audience in stitches.
The show then moves on to "Headliners," in which the panelists are shown a mock newspaper headline and have to come up with a funny caption for it. This time around, the headline is "Singer's Surprise Concert in Paris." Ed Gamble's suggestion of "Britney Spears appears in court after being wrongly informed Paris is where they still watch her new videos" is a crowd-pleaser, as is Nish Kumar's joke about Justin Bieber's latest antics.
Lastly, the episode ends with the panelists being asked to come up with "Things You Wouldn't Hear on a Survival Show." Angela Barnes' suggestion of "Well, we've been here six months, and the best thing we've found to eat is Nish's foot" is one of the funniest comments of the night, and Ed Gamble's suggestion of "All right, boys, I've given up trying to survive. I'm just going to ring Deliveroo" comes a close second.
Overall, episode 4 of season 19 of Mock the Week is a hilarious and entertaining installment of the show. The panelists are on their game, and the jokes come thick and fast throughout the episode. It's definitely one to watch if you're a fan of British comedy!
