Most Haunted is a British paranormal reality TV series that explores the country's spooky locations in search of paranormal activity. In episode 15 of season 8, the Most Haunted team investigates Spitbank Fort, a small island in the Solent off the southern coast of England.
The fort was built in the 1860s to defend the coast from French naval attacks. It was later used as a prison for German soldiers during World War I and as a training facility for the Royal Marines during World War II. In recent years, the fort has been converted into an exclusive venue for private events and luxury overnight stays.
The team arrives at the fort by boat and immediately feels a sense of unease. The fort's isolation and bleak history make it seem like the perfect place for paranormal activity. Yvette Fielding, the host of the show, introduces the team and explains that they will be spending the night investigating the fort.
As the investigation gets underway, the team splits into smaller groups and begins to explore different parts of the fort. One group focuses on the prison cells, where they hear strange noises and feel cold spots. They use various paranormal investigation tools, such as digital voice recorders and EMF meters, to try and capture evidence of ghosts.
Another group investigates the gun emplacements, where they hear unexplained footsteps and see strange shadows that seem to move on their own. They also use thermal cameras to try and capture images of any entities that may be present.
In the dining hall, the team sets up a Ouija board to try and communicate with any spirits that may be present. They are cautious, as Ouija boards are known to be powerful tools that can attract negative entities. However, they are able to make contact with what appears to be a German soldier from World War I.
Throughout the investigation, the team experiences a number of unexplained occurrences, including doors that slam shut on their own and eerie noises that seem to come from nowhere. They also feel a sense of overwhelming dread in certain areas of the fort, as if they are being watched by something malevolent.
As the night wears on, the team becomes increasingly tense and exhausted. They decide to regroup and share their findings with each other. Despite their fears and skepticism, they are able to capture a significant amount of evidence that suggests that the fort is indeed haunted.
The investigation concludes with Yvette Fielding summarizing the team's findings and bidding farewell to the fort. Although they were not able to definitively prove the existence of ghosts, the team feels that they have made contact with something otherworldly and have increased their understanding of the paranormal. Overall, the episode is a thrilling and suspenseful look at a truly eerie location.
