It's Christmas time and Mr. Bean is on a mission to spread cheer throughout his community. The episode starts with him heading to Harrod's department store to do some last-minute shopping. Once inside, he gets a little too excited with the gift wrapping and ends up getting himself stuck in the wrapping paper.
After his shopping, Mr. Bean heads back home to decorate his apartment for Christmas. He goes all out with the decorations, including a huge tree, lights, tinsel, and a nativity scene. However, his excitement gets the best of him and he accidentally sets his tree on fire. In a panic, he tries to put out the fire with a bucket of water, but ultimately causes more damage to his already destroyed apartment.
Undeterred, Mr. Bean heads out to continue his mission of spreading cheer. He visits a local Christmas market where he buys a turkey, some Christmas crackers, and a wind-up toy. He then heads to a department store's Santa's Grotto and jumps in the chair to take a picture with the kids. Seeing their excitement, he quickly adopts a new persona as Santa Claus, handing out presents to all the children.
Next, Mr. Bean heads to the local church where he attempts to sing Christmas carols, but his horrible singing voice causes everyone to leave. However, he manages to redeem himself by offering to fill in as a substitute conductor for the church choir's performance. In typical Mr. Bean fashion, he leads the choir in a comical and chaotic rendition of "O Come All Ye Faithful," complete with a kazoo solo and hair-raising falsetto.
As the day comes to a close, Mr. Bean returns home to enjoy his own Christmas festivities. He cooks his turkey and sets off some Christmas crackers, but things quickly take a turn for the worse. His turkey is overcooked and inedible, and the Christmas crackers set off a chain reaction of devastating events that lead to the complete destruction of his apartment.
Despite the disaster, the episode ends on a heartwarming note as Mr. Bean reflects on the meaning of Christmas and the joy he brought to others throughout the day. He shares his remaining Christmas crackers with a homeless man, and the two share a moment of true Christmas spirit.
Overall, "Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean" is a hilarious and heartwarming holiday episode that captures the essence of the season. Between Mr. Bean's quirky antics and his genuine efforts to spread cheer, it's impossible not to feel the holiday spirit while watching.
