Never Have I Ever Season 1 Episode 8

Ep 8. ... pissed off everyone I know

  • April 27, 2020

Devi is still reeling from the repercussions of her disastrous speech at Model UN, where she called out Paxton for using his looks to win over judges. The fallout from her actions at Model UN is extensive, and she finds herself unexpectedly alienated from almost everyone who was once in her inner circle. Devi has truly "pissed off everyone" she knows, and feels more alone than ever before.

As Devi wanders the halls of her school, she begins to notice just how much her actions have affected the dynamics between her peers. She sees people whispering and gossiping behind her back, and feels like she's become the subject of a cruel game where everyone is out to get her. Even worse, when she approaches her friends to try and make amends, they all seem distant and disinterested in her well-being.

Despite her best efforts to pretend like nothing is wrong, Devi can't shake the feeling that she's no longer in control of her own life. She's lost the respect of her family, her friends, and even her teachers, who see her as a troublemaker and a difficult student. Devi realizes that she needs to find a way to make things right if she wants to ever regain the trust of those around her.

In an attempt to set things right, Devi begins reaching out to people she's wronged in the past. She visits a classmate she's bullied and apologizes sincerely for her behavior. She also tries to reconcile with her former best friend Fabiola, who's still hurt by Devi's abandonment after her dad's death. While these efforts are a step in the right direction, Devi soon learns that apologies alone are not enough to mend the relationships she has fractured.

Meanwhile, Devi's mom Nalini is dealing with her own set of difficulties. As a single mother, she's been juggling her high-pressure job as a dermatologist with her responsibilities as a parent, which have only grown since Devi's dad Mohan passed away. Nalini's overwhelmed and stressed out, and she's begun to lash out at Devi in ways that are hurtful and unfair. As the two struggle to find common ground, Devi realizes that she needs to be more open with her mom about the challenges she's facing.

"Pissed off everyone I know" is an emotionally charged episode that delves into the complex relationships and power dynamics between Devi, her friends, and her family. Through her attempts to repair the relationships she's damaged, Devi learns the importance of self-reflection, humility, and vulnerability. As she struggles to regain the trust of those around her, Devi comes to understand the value of true friendship and the true consequences of her actions.
