The episode ends with the detectives raiding the hideout of the NSU, but Mundlos and Böhnhardt manage to escape. Zschäpe is caught and arrested, but she refuses to reveal anything about the NSU's activities or their whereabouts. The investigators are left to ponder over how such a group could have operated for so long without being detected.
