Elena is struggling to come to terms with her identity; after learning about the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ people in history class, Elena is inspired to get more involved in activism. Meanwhile, Penelope is struggling to balance her work and home life when she is suddenly faced with the arrival of a new man in her life – and she's not quite sure how to handle it. Schneider, too, is dealing with his own issues as he struggles to navigate his relationship with Avery. As everyone tries to figure out their place in the world, they must come together to support each other and find a way to move forward. In this emotional episode, the Alvarez family faces their toughest challenges yet and must rely on the strength of their love for each other to get through it all.
