Watch Better Things

A show focusing on the struggles of a Hollywood actress and single mother as she attempts to balance her fledgling career with the raising of her three daughters. The main character is Sam, her daughters Max, Sophie, and Duke. While a dedicated mother Sam's no nonsense personality and somewhat traditional values cause tension with her children and especially her eldest Max. While she strives to act as a role model to her daughters Sam is often forced to deal with the fact that her "motherly" persona limits her options as an actress, costing her the "sexy leading woman" roles that might pay her bills and jumpstart her career. Meanwhile outside influence are always there to critique her performance in the form of relatives, neighbors, strangers, and the intrusive father of her youngest child. Still it is her ability to read others, adapt to situations, and play a role that make her successful as both a mother and an actress.

Created by the same team behind the hit show Louie, the off beat humor here is familiar but different as well. Often subtle and relying on inference and subtext to win the audience over this show alternates between awkward comedy and family drama.
