Powerless is a half-hour comedy television series created by Ben Queen and developed by Warner Bros. Television that aired on NBC from February 2 to April 20, 2017. The show is set in the DC Universe and follows the employees of Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises, as they develop gadgets that protect people from the collateral damage caused by superhero battles.

The series stars Vanessa Hudgens as Emily Locke, a wide-eyed and enthusiastic young woman who moves to Charm City to work for Wayne Security. Emily is the new director of research and development, and the show's main protagonist. She is joined by a cast of quirky and eclectic characters, including her boss and mentor, Van Wayne (Alan Tudyk), the cousin of Bruce Wayne who is desperate to prove himself and step out of the shadow of his famous relative. Also on the team are Teddy (Danny Pudi), Ron (Ron Funches), and Jackie (Christina Kirk), who all have their own unique personalities and quirks.

Powerless is a unique concept for a television comedy, as it is set in the DC Universe but focuses on the everyday people who are affected by the larger-than-life battles between superheroes and supervillains. The show uses its premise to explore the human side of the superhero genre and poke fun at the absurdity of a world where superpowers are commonplace.

One of the show's main strengths is its cast. Vanessa Hudgens is charming and relatable as Emily, and her optimism and enthusiasm are infectious. Alan Tudyk steals the show as the arrogant and pompous Van Wayne, and he delivers some of the show's best lines with perfect comedic timing. Danny Pudi, Ron Funches, and Christina Kirk all bring their own comedic talents to the table, and they all have moments to shine throughout the series.

In addition to its talented cast, Powerless also benefits from its clever writing and sharp humor. The show's jokes are well-crafted and range from silly slapstick to clever pop culture references. The series also uses its DC Universe setting to make meta references to other superheroes and villains that fans of the genre will appreciate.

While Powerless is primarily a comedy, the series does have some heart and tackles some serious themes. One of the show's recurring themes is the importance of standing up for what you believe in and fighting for what is right, even if it means going against authority or taking risks. The show also explores the relationship between power and responsibility, and how even those without superpowers can make a difference in the world.

Overall, Powerless is a fun and fresh addition to the superhero genre. Its unique premise and likable cast make it an enjoyable watch, and its blend of humor and heart make it more than just a mindless comedy. While the series was ultimately cancelled after one season, it still stands as a great example of how the superhero genre can be used for more than just blockbuster action movies.

Powerless is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (12 episodes). The series first aired on February 2, 2017.
