Our World War is a British television drama series that depicts the experiences of British soldiers during World War I. The episode begins with a group of friends from Manchester who have all enlisted in the army and have been assigned to the 31st (Service) Battalion of the Manchester Regiment, also known as the 5th Manchester Pals. The 5th Manchester Pals are sent on a mission to secure a section of German trenches. The men are nervous, but they are determined to do their duty. As they advance towards the enemy lines, they come under heavy fire from German machine guns. The soldiers are forced to take cover and wait for reinforcements.

After several hours of fighting, the 5th Manchester Pals are still unable to secure the enemy trenches. The situation becomes even more dire when their commanding officer is killed in action. The men are left without leadership and are forced to make difficult decisions on their own.

The soldiers are eventually ordered to retreat, but they are unable to do so without leaving some of their fellow soldiers behind. The men are devastated by the loss of their friends and are left wondering if they will ever make it home alive.

As the episode comes to a close, the remaining soldiers gather together to mourn their fallen comrades. They are proud of their service to their country, but they are also scared and uncertain of what the future holds for them.

"Pals" is a powerful and emotional episode that highlights the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in World War I. The episode does an excellent job of portraying the horrors of war and the toll it takes on the men who fought in it.
