In the first episode of Riviera, we are introduced to our main character, Georgina Clios, a former art curator who is now married to billionaire businessman Constantine Clios. The episode opens with Georgina arriving at their luxurious villa in the French Riviera, where she is hosting a party for Constantine's latest business deal.
As the guests arrive, we begin to see the corruption and greed that permeates the world of the super-rich. Georgina's stepson, Adam, is introduced as a troublemaker who has aspirations of taking over the family business. We also see hints of tension between Georgina and Constantine's ex-wife, Irina, who seems to resent Georgina's newfound wealth and status.
Things take a dark turn when Constantine is killed in an explosion on his yacht, leaving Georgina to pick up the pieces and try to uncover the truth behind his death. As she digs deeper, she discovers that Constantine was involved in illegal activities and had enemies who would stop at nothing to get what they wanted.
Throughout the episode, we are treated to stunning visuals of the French Riviera, from the sleek modern architecture of the Clios' villa to the sprawling beaches and sparkling blue waters. The show also features an incredible soundtrack, with tracks from artists like Beck, Massive Attack, and The Kills setting the mood for each scene.
As the episode comes to a close, we are left with a tense cliffhanger that sets the stage for the rest of the season. Riviera is a thrilling and stylish drama that explores the darker side of wealth and power, and Episode 1 is a gripping introduction to this world.
