Rock starts his job as Franz Roll's assistant and learns just how demanding his role model is.

Rock, Paper, and Scissors' old friend Shoot comes back to town, ready for more of his favorite activity: exhaustingly annoying competitions.

Once upon a time it was Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot as the trio used to hang out with a bamboo shoot who exhausted them with endless competitions. After completing a ten-year challenge, Shoot returns, ready for more. The guys want to tell him that they've had enough and no longer want to be his friend, but they don't have the heart and end up in his next competition: making a million dollars from farming. Rock is excited to start his first day as Franz Roll's assistant, but things take a turn when he learns his eccentric boss is impossibly demanding to work for. Meanwhile, Scissors designs a puppet of himself and uses it to do work in his place.

Paper believes he's been accepted into a prestigious college, The Wellington Institute of Academia, only to discover it's actually an elementary school, and he placed into the third grade. Paper assumes Scissors will make fun of him and vows to earn an A out of spite, but third grade quickly proves to be extremely difficult as his classmates run circles around him with multilingual book reports and solutions to unsolved math equations. Rock and Scissors have a blast apartment-sitting for Pencil and playing with her gadgets. Scissors is sick of Lou being a terrible landlord, so when the opportunity presents itself after Lou has a traumatic experience, he convinces him to quit. But Scissors' celebration is cut short when his nemesis, The Astonishing Catalina, takes Lou's place and makes his life miserable with her magic. What's worse, she's a great landlord and everyone in the building loves her. Scissors must convince Lou to come back, but it may be difficult as Lou's life isn't so bad

Rock finally meets his modeling role model, Franz Roll, who sets Rock on a quest to retrieve a legendary modeling artifact - the lost rainbow hot pants of Pharoah Atraxes the Apple-Bottomed - in order to prove he's worthy of working with him. As the trio travel around the world to find the fabled clothing item, Paper and Scissors compete to prove who's the most supportive friend in the hopes that, when Rock is famous, one of them can be the head of his entourage and be the laziest mooch alive. Rock must put his modeling skills to the test and solve this long-lost mystery, or risk the chance of losing out on his lifelong dream.
