Ep 1. Dangerous Minds

The show Schooled follows the lives of the teachers and students at William Penn Academy in the 1990s. In season 2 episode 1 titled "Dangerous Minds," we see the new school year begin with a few changes at William Penn Academy.

Coach Mellor is now the acting principal due to Principal Glascott's absence, and he takes his new role seriously by purchasing a fancy desk and begging the faculty for their support. At the start of the episode, we see Coach Mellor panicking over the first day of school and wanting to make a good impression. He fills Principal Glascott's office with plants and replaces his plain desk with a new fancy one. He then urges the faculty to assist him in making William Penn Academy the best school in the district. However, his attempts at being a good principal fall short when he discovers that he has included the school's worst enemies in his plans.

Lainey Lewis, on the other hand, is back from her tour with Wild Cherry and is looking to make a change in the school's music department. She thinks that the students need a fresh sound, and she has a few ideas on how to go about it. She meets with the principal's secretary, Ms. Cinoman, to discuss her plans, but Mellor walks in and immediately tries to convince Lainey that sports is the way to go for students.

The episode then takes a turn when Coach Mellor convinces Lainey to fill in for a substitute teacher for the day and teach a History class. Lainey, who had never taught before, believes that it will be easy, but soon finds out that it's anything but. She is assigned a class of underprivileged students who are disinterested in learning and barely show up to school. She struggles to connect with the students and convince them that history is important.

As the episode progresses, it becomes clear that Lainey is in trouble as she begins losing control of her classroom. Meanwhile, Coach Mellor is dealing with the stress of filling in for Principal Glascott, and the rest of the faculty is coping with their own issues. One teacher is trying to find love, while another is dealing with her anger issues.
