Ep 15. Moving On

In the Season 2 episode "Moving On" of the ABC sitcom Schooled, Lainey finds herself at odds with Mellor when she decides to move out of his mother's house and into her own place. Meanwhile, Wilma convinces Wilkins to help her put on a community performance of Hairspray, causing mixed emotions for those involved.

As the episode begins, Lainey is excited to tell Mellor that she's found her own apartment. However, Mellor is taken aback and hurt by the news, believing that Lainey is leaving his mother's house because she doesn't want to live with him anymore. Despite Lainey's reassurances that this isn't the case, Mellor can't shake the feeling that he's being abandoned.

Meanwhile, Wilma is determined to put on a community performance of Hairspray in honor of Black History Month. She enlists Wilkins to help her with the production, but quickly realizes that he's not much of a singer or dancer. Nevertheless, Wilma sees potential in Wilkins and encourages him to audition for a major role alongside the rest of the staff and students.

As rehearsals begin, Wilma's vision for the show clashes with the desires of the performers. Tammy, who is cast as the lead, insists on making changes to her character's lines, while Coach Mellor, who is playing the villain, struggles to find the right balance between menace and humor. Nevertheless, Wilma remains determined to put on the best show possible, even if it means stepping on a few toes.

Back at Mellor's house, Lainey is packing up her things when she comes across a box of old memories that she and Mellor shared. As she reminisces about their past, it becomes clear to Lainey that Mellor is having a hard time letting go. She decides to invite him to her new apartment for dinner in an attempt to smooth things over.

The night of the performance arrives, and tensions are high as Wilma and Wilkins prepare to take the stage. When Wilkins freezes up during his big solo number, Wilma steps in and saves the day, earning cheers and applause from the audience. Meanwhile, Lainey and Mellor have a heart-to-heart over dinner, with Mellor finally realizing that his fear of losing Lainey has more to do with his own insecurities than anything she's done.

By the end of the episode, everyone has learned a valuable lesson about moving on and letting go. Lainey and Mellor have resolved their differences and are ready to move forward as friends, while Wilma and Wilkins have proved that even unlikely pairings can come together to put on a great show. As the credits roll, the cast of Hairspray takes their final bow, basking in the warm glow of their success.
