The tension ramps up as the researchers begin their study of SCP-173. We see the figure in the background, eerily still and unmoving as the researchers go about their business. The sense of foreboding is palpable, and we can't help but feel that something is going to go wrong. And of course, it does. As one of the researchers blinks, SCP-173 suddenly disappears from view, leaving only a trail of blood in its wake.

The scene is done extremely well, with minimalistic yet effective sound design and lighting. We hear the rasping breaths of SCP-173, and the sound of snapping bones as it attacks its victims. The camera cuts away just as the attack happens, adding to the sense of horror and dread. The team is left reeling from the attack, with the knowledge that they have been dealing with an entity that is far more dangerous and unpredictable than they had anticipated.

Overall, SCP Foundation season 1 episode 1 is a chilling and tense introduction to the world of the SCP Foundation. The mockumentary style works well to heighten the tension and maintain a sense of realism, while the minimalist approach to horror is both effective and refreshing. There are some genuinely scary moments, and the concept of the SCP Foundation itself is fascinating and complex. For fans of horror and sci-fi, this show definitely has the potential to become a new cult favorite.
