Feeling betrayed and alone, SpongeBob enters into a deep state of depression and begins to neglect his responsibilities at the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs takes notice of SpongeBob's behavior and tries to intervene, but only makes matters worse by firing him.
As SpongeBob hits rock bottom, it is up to his loyal friend Patrick to help him snap out of it and realize that he still has a lot to live for, including the love and support of his friends. With Patrick's help, SpongeBob realizes that true love means putting the happiness of others before your own and he ultimately finds a way to be happy for Gary and Mary.
