- July 24, 2009
In season 2 episode 41 of SpongeBob SquarePants, titled "Goo Goo Gas / Le Big Switch," viewers are treated to two separate episodes in which SpongeBob and his friends find themselves in silly and sometimes dangerous situations.
In the first half of the episode, "Goo Goo Gas," Plankton once again attempts to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula from the Krusty Krab. This time, he invents a gas that can turn anyone who breathes it in into a helpless baby. Plankton plans to use this to his advantage and finally get his hands on the formula.
SpongeBob, who is working at the Krusty Krab counter, accidentally inhales the gas when he tries to stop Plankton from stealing the formula. Now turned into a baby, SpongeBob is taken back to his pineapple by Patrick to be babysat until he can be turned back to his normal self.
At first, Patrick loves taking care of Baby SpongeBob, but things quickly become chaotic as SpongeBob starts to act like a real baby, crawling around and getting into everything. Meanwhile, Plankton discovers that the gas has a limited lifespan and must be administered again within a certain time frame.
Sandy, who has discovered what Plankton is up to, comes to the rescue and turns SpongeBob back to his normal self just in time to stop Plankton from getting the formula. The episode ends with SpongeBob and Patrick learning a valuable lesson about the responsibilities and challenges of taking care of a baby.
In the second half of the episode, "Le Big Switch," Mr. Krabs and the owner of a fancy French restaurant, Monsieur Le Big, decide to switch places for the day to see how the other runs their business.
Mr. Krabs is excited at the prospect of making more money at the fancy restaurant, but quickly realizes that the high-class clientele doesn't appreciate his Krusty Krab-style food and service. Meanwhile, Monsieur Le Big is appalled by the sloppy and unsanitary way the Krusty Krab is run.
As the day goes on, things only get worse for both owners. Mr. Krabs accidentally serves customers an undercooked Krabby Patty, which causes a mass food poisoning outbreak in the restaurant. Monsieur Le Big discovers that the Krusty Krab is infested with health code violations and calls in the health inspector.
In the end, both owners are happy to return to their own businesses and the episode ends with a valuable message about being content with what you have and not always desiring what others have.
Overall, "Goo Goo Gas / Le Big Switch" is a fun and entertaining episode that shows off the zany and unpredictable world of SpongeBob SquarePants. From turning into a baby to running a fancy French restaurant, this episode has something for everyone and is sure to provide lots of laughs.
