Ep 8. Squidville

In SpongeBob SquarePants season 1 episode 8, titled "Squidville," SpongeBob and Squidward have a heated argument about the ideal way of living. Squidward has grown frustrated with the noisy and unpredictable happenings of Bikini Bottom and dreams of relocating to a more peaceful place. But over time, he becomes jealous of Squidward's new, more orderly life and begins to miss the craziness of Bikini Bottom. He decides to break the rules and try to bring some joy and excitement back into Squidville.

This episode explores the theme of conforming and breaking away from norms as well as the idea that sometimes, what you think you want isn't always what you need. Squidward had grown disgruntled with Bikini Bottom's chaotic nature, but after living in a society that uplifts order and uniformity, he begins missing the vibrant energy and unpredictability of his old home.
