Ep 11. Dyatkovo

Elizabeth and Philip, Russian spies living in Washington D.C. in the 1980s, have been tasked with obtaining a sample of a deadly virus known as the Lassa virus. In episode 11 of season 5, titled "Dyatkovo," the Jennings struggle to complete their mission while also trying to protect their daughter, Paige, from the dangers of their espionage work.

The episode opens with Philip speaking with Gabriel, their former handler, who has returned to the United States to help the Jennings with their virus mission. Gabriel expresses concern for Philip's mental well-being and suggests that he take a break from his spy work. But Philip is determined to complete the mission and sends Gabriel on his way.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth has obtained a job at a veterinary clinic in order to access a lab where the Lassa virus is being tested on animals. She gains access to the lab and successfully steals the virus, but encounters a major problem when she is unable to secure the virus container. This puts the Jennings in a very precarious situation, as the virus is extremely dangerous and could potentially infect them or others.

As all of this is going on, Paige is struggling with the realities of her parents' work. She is growing increasingly suspicious of their behavior and feels like they are keeping secrets from her. Emily, a fellow church member whom Paige has grown close to, offers to take her to a protest in support of nuclear disarmament. Paige agrees to go, but quickly realizes that the protest is being led by members of a far-left group who are planning to do something drastic.

Meanwhile, Stan Beeman, the FBI agent who lives across the street from the Jennings, is still trying to piece together the puzzle of the Russian spy operation in D.C. He meets with Oleg Burov, a former KGB agent who has information about a new operation that the Russians are planning. Oleg is hesitant to share too much information, but tells Stan that he wants to help stop the Russians from escalating the Cold War any further.

As the episode comes to a close, the Jennings must figure out how to contain the Lassa virus and deal with the consequences of their actions. Paige faces some difficult decisions about her allegiances, and Stan and Oleg continue to work together to try and stop the Russians. This episode sets the stage for a thrilling conclusion to season 5 of The Americans.
