The Casketeers is a television show that follows a family-run funeral home in New Zealand. In season 1, episode 2, aptly titled "Episode 2," we see Francis and Kaiora Tipene, the husband and wife duo who co-own the Tipene Funerals home, dealing with a variety of client families who are mourning the loss of loved ones.

The episode starts off with Francis heading out to Rotorua, a city in New Zealand, to pick up the body of a Maori man who passed away suddenly. While at the hospital, Francis explains to the audience that Maori culture has a lot of unique customs when it comes to death, including how they bury their loved ones and how they grieve. He and Kaiora are well-versed in these traditions and will do everything they can to ensure that each family's cultural needs are met.

Back at the funeral home, we see Kaiora working with two sisters who are trying to plan a funeral for their brother. The man, who had a history of drug abuse, died of a heart attack, and the sisters are struggling to come up with the funds to pay for a proper funeral. Kaiora empathizes with their predicament, but also explains that it's important to give their brother a fitting send-off. She's able to work with them to create a funeral that's both meaningful and affordable, and the sisters are grateful for her help.

Next, Francis and Kaiora work with a young man who's trying to plan a funeral for his mother. The woman died unexpectedly, leaving her son in charge of all the arrangements. He's struggling with the grief of losing his mom, and also with the stress of planning a funeral. Francis and Kaiora are able to gently guide him through the process, helping him choose a casket and plan the service. They're also able to offer emotional support, which he greatly appreciates.

Later on in the episode, we see Kaiora working with a Maori family who are planning a funeral for their father. The man had a large family, and they're all coming together to celebrate his life. Kaiora explains that Maori funerals are a time for mourning, but also for celebrating the person's life. She and her team work hard to ensure that the funeral is a respectful and meaningful tribute to the man who passed away.

Finally, the episode ends with Francis and Kaiora dealing with a difficult situation. A woman has passed away, and her children are fighting over her possessions. Francis and Kaiora are called in to mediate the situation, and they're able to help the family come to a resolution. It's a reminder of the important work that they do, and the impact that it can have on people's lives.

Overall, season 1, episode 2 of The Casketeers is a poignant look at the work that goes into planning and executing funerals.
