Ep 3. A Date with Destiny

The Cool Kids season 1 episode 3, titled "A Date with Destiny," follows the misadventures of four residents at Shady Meadows Retirement Community. The episode centers around Sid (played by Martin Mull) and his long-awaited date with a licensed practical nurse named Destiny (played by Yvette Nicole Brown).

Sid has been fantasizing about his date with Destiny for weeks, but when he finally meets her, he realizes that she might not be the ideal match he had envisioned. As Sid and Destiny's date progresses, it becomes apparent that Destiny has some quirks and opinions that don't quite mesh with Sid's expectations. Despite the awkwardness, Sid tries his best to impress her with tales of his adventurous past and offers to buy her a fancy meal at a nearby restaurant. However, things take a turn when Destiny begins talking about her deep-seated grudges and criticisms of the world around her.

Back at the senior center, Charlie, Hank, and Margaret are frustrated with their inability to impress the visiting group, leading to a heated argument about how to make the center more attractive to outsiders. Despite their initial struggles, the group soon realizes that the visitors are actually a bunch of laid-back stoners who just want to hang out and play cards.

As the episode draws to a close, Sid's date with Destiny reaches a hilarious climax, while the rest of the gang learns that sometimes the best approach is to just be themselves and enjoy each other's company. "A Date with Destiny" is a funny, feel-good episode that shows how even in their golden years, the four friends can still find laughter and joy amidst the trials and tribulations of life at a retirement community.
