As Dr. Richard Kimble continues his search for the one-armed man who killed his wife, he finds himself in a small town in Nebraska in season 1 episode 12 of The Fugitive titled "Changing Direction".

With limited resources and after nearly being caught by the police, Kimble takes on a new identity and lands a job as a pool cleaner at a local motel. He quickly strikes up a friendship with a fellow motel employee named Lily, played by guest star Jacqueline Scott, who is sympathetic to his plight.

As he becomes more comfortable in his new surroundings, Kimble begins to let his guard down and allow himself to trust Lily and other motel guests. However, he soon realizes that he may have made a mistake in doing so when he discovers that Lily is hiding a secret of her own.

Meanwhile, the police, led by Lt. Gerard, continue their relentless pursuit of Kimble, using advanced surveillance techniques to track his movements. Gerard is convinced that Kimble will eventually slip up and when he does, the police will be there waiting to bring him to justice.

As the episode unfolds, Kimble must decide whether to continue to trust Lily and others around him or to take matters into his own hands and continue his search for the one-armed man on his own.
