- 2 Seasons
In the horror series Servant, a young couple are menaced by an evil supernatural force. The spirit enters their lives after a tragedy shakes their relationship. The series is produced by M. Night Shyamalan, the director of The Sixth Sense. The new series is available on Apple TV+. The series follows a young married couple, Dorothy and Sean, as they try to come to terms with the death of their infant son. Dorothy has found a coping tool in Jericho, a lifelike doll that she believes is her real baby. The presence of Jericho revived Dorothy from a catatonic state after the real baby's death. Dorothy can't take care of the fake baby all by herself, however, so she and Sean hire a live-in nanny, Leanne, to help. Unfortunately, the arrival of Leanne doesn't make the strange situation any less strange. In fact, even stranger things begin to happen when the nanny enters the picture, and Sean begins to believe that something sinister is afoot. The series debuted on Apple TV+ in 2019. The involvement of Shyamalan added star power to the marketing of the series, despite that filmmaker's inconsistent success in the past. Servant, however, has received mostly positive reviews from critics, and Apple announced, even before the premiere of the first season, that the series would get a second season. Audiences have also been generally positive in their reaction to the series, although its availability on the relatively obscure streaming platform may have hindered its exposure.
