Dr. Richard Kimble, a respected surgeon, is on the run after being wrongly convicted of murdering his wife. He is relentlessly pursued by Lt. Gerarld Jenkins, the man who originally arrested him. In season 1 episode 2 of The Fugitive, titled "Smile for the Camera," Kimble is forced to lay low in a seedy motel as he tries to avoid capture.

After narrowly escaping Lt. Jenkins in the previous episode, Kimble starts this episode with a sense of cautious optimism. He manages to secure a room at a run-down motel in the hopes of keeping a low profile. However, his peace is short-lived when he realizes that the motel is a hotbed of criminal activity. The seedy characters that inhabit the motel are all too curious about the new guest, and Kimble is forced to stay alert at all times.

Kimble's anxiety only intensifies when he receives a visit from a private investigator named Fred Johnson. Johnson is hired by the prosecution to track down Kimble, and he is getting dangerously close to finding him. Kimble manages to duck Johnson this time, but he knows that he can't stay at the motel for long.

Meanwhile, Lt. Jenkins is determined to catch Kimble at all costs. He tracks down Kimble's sister, Donna, and tries to convince her to help him find her fugitive brother. Donna is torn between her loyalty to her brother and the desire to put her sister-in-law's killer behind bars. Her internal struggle makes for a tense and emotional scene that showcases the excellent acting of series regular Barry Morse.

As the episode progresses, Kimble finds himself drawn into the motel's seedy underworld. He is forced to use his skills as a doctor to help a sick young boy, and in doing so he earns the trust of some of the motel's residents. However, this newfound trust is short-lived when one of the motel's regulars recognizes Kimble from a news broadcast.

Kimble's cover is blown, and he is forced to flee once again. He narrowly avoids capture from both Lt. Jenkins and Fred Johnson, but he knows that he needs to find a more permanent solution to his problem.

Overall, "Smile for the Camera" is a tense and suspenseful episode that expertly showcases the talents of its cast and crew. The writing is top-notch, and the pacing is perfect. Fans of The Fugitive will not want to miss this thrilling episode.
