Todd Margaret is a British television sitcom that airs on Channel 4 in the UK and IFC in the United States. Created by David Cross and Shaun Pye, it centers on the titular character Todd Margaret, played by David Cross, an American office temp worker who is sent on a business trip to London. Series 3 centers around Todd's trial for crimes he committed before the events of the show, and in episode 2, titled "Todd Margaret Part 2," we continue to follow Todd's trial and learn more about the events that led up to it.

The episode begins with a flashback of Todd's time in London, where he's trying to convince Brent Wilts, played by Brett Gelman, to sign a contract with him. We get a glimpse of the lengths Todd will go to close a deal, as he lies and manipulates Brent into agreeing to his terms, even to the point of confessing to a murder he didn't commit. Back in court, it becomes clear that Todd's confession in London is a crucial piece of evidence in his trial, and his lawyer, played by Sharon Horgan, struggles to argue that Todd's confession was coerced.

As the trial continues, we see more flashbacks to Todd's time in London, including his interactions with Brent's wife, played by Sally Phillips, and his disastrous attempts to impress her. We also learn more about Todd's relationship with his boss, played by Will Arnett, and how Todd's incompetence and lies caused a rift between them, leading to Todd's eventual firing.

Interspersed with the flashbacks, we see Todd's present-day attempts to defend himself in court, as he comes up with increasingly implausible explanations for his actions. We also see Todd's interactions with his court-appointed therapist, played by Bob Odenkirk, who seems just as confused as everyone else about how Todd got himself into this mess.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the show maintains its absurd sense of humor throughout the episode. David Cross's performance as Todd is both cringe-worthy and hilarious, as we see him flounder and fail at every turn. The supporting cast is equally strong, with standout performances from Brett Gelman and Will Arnett.

Overall, "Todd Margaret Part 2" is a strong episode that continues the show's streak of darkly comedic storytelling. It's an entertaining and engaging watch, and fans of the show will appreciate the way it delves deeper into Todd's past and sheds light on the events that led up to his trial.
