In season 1, episode 5 of The Magicians, titled "Mendings, Major and Minor," we see our favorite characters dealing with the aftermath of the previous episode's events. Quentin, Alice, and Penny are still reeling from the death of one of their classmates, which they believe to be their fault. Meanwhile, Eliot and Margo try to make a deal with a powerful fairy queen in order to acquire a rare plant that can heal magical wounds.
As our characters grapple with their guilt and grief, they also have to navigate the complex magical world they inhabit. Quentin's magical ability is growing stronger, but he's struggling to control it. Alice is still harboring secrets about her past, which start to come to light during this episode. Penny discovers that his ability to travel between worlds might not be as rare as he once thought.
This episode also introduces a new character: Kady, played by Jade Tailor. Kady is a former Brakebills student who was expelled for unclear reasons. She's now running a black market for magical items, which puts her in a dangerous position.

But ultimately, they must band together in order to face a powerful enemy who threatens not only their lives, but the entire magical world.
