In The Nanny season 1 episode 20, titled "Ode to Barbra Joan (a.k.a. Daddy Dearest)," Fran's estranged father, Morty Fine, comes to town for a visit. Upon learning that Morty is a successful Broadway producer, Fran convinces him to take a look at her friend Val's one-woman show, which she wrote and stars in. Morty is unimpressed with Val's material and decides to produce a show for Fran instead, much to Val's chagrin. Meanwhile, Mr. Sheffield and C.C. are at odds after she takes credit for a project he worked on. As tensions rise, Fran finds herself caught in the middle of both conflicts, trying to keep the peace with her father and mediating between Mr. Sheffield and C.C. in her own unique way.
