We're Here is a six-episode reality series that follows three drag queens, Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O'Hara, and Shangela Laquifa Wadley, as they travel to small towns across America to help locals step out of their comfort zones and express themselves through the power of drag.
In episode four, the trio heads to Farmington, New Mexico, a conservative town with a large Native American community. The queens are immediately greeted with a warm welcome from the locals, who are curious about drag but wary of how the traditional values of the community will mesh with the flamboyant world of the performers.
Bob, Eureka, and Shangela are assigned three individuals who want to explore drag for the first time – a shy, reserved high school student; a single mother looking to boost her confidence; and a young man struggling with acceptance from his family and community. Through a series of rehearsals and one-on-one conversations, the queens help their protégés navigate their fears and embrace their true selves.
As the show progresses, the queens also have the chance to explore the culture and history of the Native American community in Farmington. They attend a powwow and meet with local leaders and activists to learn about the challenges the community faces, particularly regarding the LGBTQ community.
The episode culminates in a one-night-only drag show, where the locals come out in droves to witness the transformative power of drag. The performers, including the three protégés, put on a stunning showcase that leaves the audience in awe.
Overall, episode four of We're Here is a heartwarming and eye-opening exploration of drag, identity, and community in a small town setting. Through the power of drag, the queens and their protégés are able to break down barriers and celebrate the diversity that makes Farmington, and America as a whole, so special.
