Ep 1. Campers Arrive

It's the first day of Camp Firewood's summer season in 1981, and the counselors are getting ready for the arrival of their campers. We meet the Camp Director, Mitch, as he gives the counselors a pep talk before their young charges start pouring in. We also see the Senior Staff, which includes a motley crew of oddballs such as Gene, the head cook, Lindsay, the arts and crafts director, and J.J., the activities coordinator.

As the campers start to arrive, we're introduced to a cast of misfit teens including the self-proclaimed "mayor of first grade" Kevin and the nerdy, bespectacled Arty who quickly makes enemies with the athletic Drew. Meanwhile, Andy and Katie, two counselors with a tumultuous history, try to come to terms with their lingering feelings for each other.

As the day goes on, tensions rise between the counselors and campers alike. Young camper Neil can't seem to catch a break, failing at every task he's given and attracting the attention of the peculiar Camp Tigerclaw. Drew and his friends, meanwhile, harass and bully Arty at every turn.

But amidst all the chaos, there are moments of joy and levity. The counselors break out into a choreographed dance routine, and a budding romance between two campers seems to be blossoming. As the sun sets on the first day of camp, anything seems possible for the colorful cast of characters at Camp Firewood.
