Wife Swap Australia Season 2 Episode 2: "Lange & Aravidis"

In this episode of Wife Swap Australia, two very different families from opposite ends of the spectrum come together to participate in this social experiment. Natalie Lange and her family hail from the country town of Ulverstone in Tasmania while Dimi Aravidis and her family are based in the bustling city of Melbourne in Victoria.

Natalie is a stay-at-home mum who bundles up her four kids, two dogs, and a cat for their weekly family cricket matches. Her husband Nick is a factory worker who loves to unwind after a long day with a beer and enjoys his weekends working on his vintage cars. They pride themselves on being very traditional in their values and are trying to instill these same values in their children.

The Aravidis family, on the other hand, are a Greek family who are deeply entrenched in their culture. Dimi, the matriarch of the family, is passionate about passing on her heritage to her three children. Her husband, Nick, is a successful businessman who spends most of his time working to provide for his family. They live in a lavish house and enjoy the finer things in life.

When the two families swap wives, they are forced to come face-to-face with their own prejudices and biases. Natalie struggles to adapt to the Aravidis lifestyle, finding it overwhelming, extravagant and too different from the simple life she knows. Meanwhile, Dimi is shocked by how little Nick and his family know about culture, including how to cook traditional Greek food and experiences a sense of isolation because of the distance of Tasmania from Melbourne.

As the week progresses, both women make changes to the households with varying degrees of success. Natalie introduces her love of sports to the Aravidis family, organizing a family cricket match for them to participate in. Dimi, on the other hand, sticks to her roots, teaching the Lange family how to cook traditional Greek dishes and introducing them to her culture.

However, conflict arises when Dimi pushes Natalie's children out of their comfort zones by making them try different foods, which causes tension between the two families. Natalie also struggles to keep up with the Aravidis lifestyle and feels isolated.

As the wives return to their respective households, they both reflect on the lessons they've learned. Natalie realizes that she needs to be less judgmental and more open to different cultures and lifestyles, while Dimi learns that it’s important to respect other people’s beliefs and not to push them out of their comfort zones. Both women see the value in embracing aspects of each other's lifestyles and cultures but, by the end of episode, it's unclear whether they will choose to make any lasting changes to their lives.
