In Xtreme Off-Road season 3 episode 2, titled "Project Buckin' Bronco," host Ian Johnson and his team focus on transforming a 1976 Ford Bronco into an off-road machine. The project begins with the team removing the old engine and transmission to make way for a new, more powerful setup. They install a Ford Performance Aluminator crate engine, capable of producing 580 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. To ensure that the engine can handle the rigors of off-road use, they also install a heavy-duty radiator and transmission cooler.

Next, the team turns its attention to the suspension. They install a complete kit from Skyjacker, which includes new springs, shocks, and all the necessary hardware. They also add new axles front and rear, with Yukon gears and lockers to increase traction. To complete the drivetrain, they install a new transfer case and custom drive shafts.

One of the most significant challenges of this build is the custom roll cage. The team spends several days measuring and cutting tubes to build a cage that will not only protect the occupants but also allow for maximum interior space. They also install racing seats and a custom dash with gauges from AutoMeter.

To finish the project, the team adds some unique touches, such as a custom roof rack and bumpers, a Warn winch, and RIGID Industries LED lights. They also paint the Bronco a unique shade of matte green and add some custom graphics.

Once the build is complete, Ian takes the Buckin' Bronco out for a test drive in the Arizona desert. The new engine and suspension provide plenty of power and agility, and the custom roll cage keeps Ian safe as he tackles some challenging off-road terrain.
