Gabby, played by Emily Osment, is a food blogger, who after a failed first attempt at landing a job as a personal chef, finally lands a job with one of the most eligible bachelors in San Francisco, Josh Kaminski, played by Jonathan Sadowski, as his personal chef. Josh is a wealthy entrepreneur, who has just gone through a break-up and is looking for some companionship. Gabby's unconventional personality and wit attract Josh, and thus begins a rollercoaster of a ride that sees the two coming closer to each other. In season 2, episode 6 titled "Young and Moving," Gabby, Josh, and Sofia, played by Aimee Carrero, find themselves dealing with the perks and downsides of moving to a new place together.
The episode starts with Gabby and Josh excitedly announcing that they have found the perfect new apartment for themselves. However, Sofia is hesitant about moving in with them, as she is worried about how she will manage being stuck between their lovey-dovey antics. Despite her reservations, Sofia agrees to move in with them, and the trio embarks upon the task of packing their stuff.
As they begin packing, Gabby realizes that she has a lot of items that she no longer needs, but cannot seem to discard. Sofia advises Gabby to sell these items on Craigslist to which Gabby agrees. However, things don't go as planned, and Gabby ends up selling her whole bedroom set without realizing it. To make matters worse, the buyer is not easy to deal with, and Gabby finds herself having to negotiate with him for the return of her set.
Meanwhile, Josh is struggling with his commitment issues, and his fear of getting too close to Gabby. He confides in Sofia about his concerns, and she advises him to talk to Gabby about his feelings. However, when Josh attempts to do so, he ends up blurting out "I love you," before he can backpedal. Gabby is taken aback, and unsure of how to react, but softens after a little while. They both agree that they still want to take their relationship slow.
As they prepare for the move, things take a turn for the worse when the landlord informs them that they cannot move in on the agreed upon date. Gabby is upset, as she has already given notice to her current landlord. Josh, being the resourceful guy he is, decides to arrange for temporary accommodation for them all. They find a spacious apartment by the ocean, which they all agree to stay in until their new place is ready.
The episode ends with Gabby looking at the ocean and realizing that her relationship with Josh is deeper than she had originally thought and that she might be developing deeper feelings for him. Sofia takes a picture of the three of them together, happy and content, in their new temporary home, signifying the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
The episode, "Young and Moving," deals with issues of commitment, letting go of unnecessary baggage, and the potential difficulties of living with close friends. The show balances its comedic aspects with its poignant moments, making for an entertaining, uplifting and heartfelt experience.
