The Sex Monster is based on the hectic life of a successful businessman who suffers from a condition called Neurosis. The businessman, Marty Barnes, deals the best he can with his Neurotic condition. Marty Barnes wants and needs to improve his sex life with his wife, Laura, drastically. The businessman asks his wife if she would be interested in having a threesome for the first time. His wife, Laura Barnes, loves the idea of trying something new to spice up their love life. The threesome with another woman that Marty wanted with Laura ends up kicking him in the butt, figuratively speaking. Laura, his wife, starts having more fun in the bedroom with other women instead of her husband. So that is when her husband, Marty, names her The Sex Monster and she loves the hilarious title. The Sex Monster is a Romantic Comedy that keeps audiences laughing and loving the drama throughout the whole movie.

The excellent cast in the movie makes it that much more funny and dramatic. The actor Mike Binder plays the businessman Marty Barnes and Mariel Hemingway plays Laura Barnes, his wife. Another cast member is Christopher Lawford who plays Dave PemBroke. PemBroke is a good friend of the couple and helps Marty on his hilarious adventures throughout the film. Kevin Pollak plays Doctor Jerry Berman who is seeked out by the couple at the worst times with funny situations at hand. An interesting twist is how the movie is directed throughout shooting and was written by Mike Binder, the main actor in the film.

The Sex Monster movie has stayed popular over the past 13 years, due to its comedic nature. This is the movie to see for anyone looking for great laughs. Some well known actors and comedians are in the film. Stephen Baldwin, who is known for his comedic roles throughout movie history, plays Murphy. Renee Humphrey plays Didi, the woman who has the threesome with Marty and Laura. As the story is ending, Anita Barone, who plays Carol, comes into the picture. Carol and Didi are known associates and Laura starts spending quality time with both women. Marty Barnes sure did get his needs filled, but we can surely learn from Barnes to be careful what you wish for. Barnes struggling with the changes in his life is what audiences laugh a lot about.
