Art in the Twenty-First Century is a critically acclaimed television series that offers viewers unprecedented and intimate access to the lives, work and creative processes of today's leading artists. In season 6, episode 3 titled "Change," the series takes a closer look at artists who are innovating and pushing boundaries in an effort to spur change in the world.

Throughout the episode, audiences will be taken on a fascinating journey through the artistic practices of three different artists: Jeff Koons, Ai Weiwei, and Caroline Walker. Each artist offers a unique perspective on the ways in which their work intersects with issues of global importance, from political unrest and social upheaval to environmental concerns and the transformation of technology.

First up is Jeff Koons, known for his provocative and controversial sculptures and installations. Koons talks in depth about his series of works that blend religion, consumerism, and pop culture, and what inspired him to create such pieces as the Balloon Dog. Koons' work is as much a commentary on the excesses of contemporary society as it is an investigation of the possibilities of art. The artist discusses how he uses his art to create a new way of seeing and experiencing the world, and how his works are designed to provoke thought and discussion.

Next, we meet Ai Weiwei, one of China's most celebrated artists and a formidable voice for freedom of expression and human rights. Weiwei's work is characterized by fierce political activism and a tireless commitment to social justice, which earned him the wrath of the Chinese government and led to his imprisonment in 2011. In this episode, we get a glimpse into Weiwei's creative process and how his work is intertwined with his activism. From his Thought Flow series that explores freedom of expression to his Hope Fences that encourages social change, Ai Weiwei is a trailblazer in the art world and beyond.

Lastly, we follow Caroline Walker, a British artist whose paintings offer a unique glimpse into the lives of women in India. Walker's work is notable for its ability to capture the daily routines of these women in a way that draws attention to the complexities of their lives. Her paintings are insightful, observant, and empathetic, and they give the viewer a sense of what it's like to live in a culture vastly different from their own. Through her work, Walker aims to draw attention to issues of gender and identity, and to challenge our assumptions about what it means to be a woman in the twenty-first century.

As with all episodes of Art in the Twenty-First Century, "Change" is a thought-provoking exploration of the creative process, as well as an examination of how art can be a powerful tool for social, political, and cultural change. Through the lens of Jeff Koons, Ai Weiwei, and Caroline Walker, viewers gain insight into the ways in which art can be used to challenge and transform the world around us. With its stunning visuals, insightful interviews, and thought-provoking ideas, "Change" is a must-watch for anyone interested in the role of art in society today.
