In season 1 episode 12 of Ghost Hunters International, the team travels to South Africa to investigate reports of hauntings in multiple locations. The episode begins with lead investigator Robb Demarest outlining their mission and explaining the team's equipment, which includes multiple cameras, audio recorders, and EMF detectors.

Their first stop is the Johannesburg Castle, which is rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of former prisoners and political dissidents. The team splits into groups to cover more ground, with Joe Chin and Scott Tepperman investigating the inner cells of the castle while Barry FitzGerald and Brandy Green cover the outer perimeter.

The team experiences several unusual events, including the sound of footsteps, sudden temperature drops, and unexplained movements on their cameras. Joe and Scott also capture an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) of a mysterious voice saying, "I'm not a criminal."

Next, the team travels to Kimberley, where they investigate the Mine Museum. The museum is built on the site of an old diamond mine, where many miners died from cave-ins and accidents. In particular, the museum's exhibit on the Big Hole, a massive pit dug by diamond miners, is said to be haunted by the ghosts of miners who perished there.

The team sets up their equipment and begins their investigation, with Robb and Joe focusing on the Big Hole exhibit. They capture several possible EVPs, including a voice saying, "I'm lonely," and another voice saying, "Get out."

Meanwhile, Barry and Brandy investigate the rest of the museum and capture some intriguing footage of unexplained shadows and movements. One particularly eerie moment occurs when Brandy hears a child's laughter, even though there are no children present in the museum.

The team's final stop is Rustenburg, where they investigate a hotel that is reportedly haunted by multiple ghosts. The hotel's staff have reported strange noises and sightings of apparitions in several rooms, including one room where a woman allegedly committed suicide.

As the team sets up their equipment in the haunted room, they notice that the temperature drops suddenly and the EMF detector spikes. The team also captures some intriguing EVPs, including a voice saying, "Why are you here?" and another voice whispering, "Go away."

Throughout the investigation, the team experiences several hair-raising moments, including unexplained sounds, movements, and temperature drops. However, they also try to approach the paranormal activity with a scientific mindset, ruling out any natural explanations before considering the possibility of a ghostly presence.

In the end, the team presents their findings to the hotel's staff and offers suggestions for how to deal with any potential haunting in the future. While they may not have definitively proven the existence of ghosts, the team's investigation provides plenty of food for thought and makes for a thrilling episode of Ghost Hunters International.
