This fascinating television series depicts how a team of investigators drives across the most remote back roads of the United States investigating sightings of strange creatures. These creatures are also referred to as cryptids and have been sighted in the lakes, forests and caves of isolated areas. The researchers themselves do the filming so that the style of investigative filming is unrehearsed and authentic. This road trip format is also referred to as a found-footage genre and allows the investigators to take on legendary cases. By avoiding the use of large film crews who use bright lights and cause a great deal of noise, a few people with handheld cameras will cause less disturbance. This will increase the likelihood of documenting sightings. The viewers are sure to be entertained by learning more about the existence and history of the areas that are visited. Stories of sightings will be retold and re-examined for their plausibility. The element of danger is also present since many of these areas are populated by poisonous snakes, mountain lions, bears and other creatures that can cause harm. It is not difficult for the viewers to imagine themselves behind the camera while pushing aside the underbrush in search of the unimaginable. The suspense builds as they keep a wary eye out for any signs indicating the presence of unusual beings. Witnesses are questioned and their candid answers allow the viewers to decide for themselves if the alleged sightings are concocted or not. The more transparent the interviews are perceived as being the greater the likelihood of the viewer feeling that the claims are real. The topic of paranormal activities has been treated with much pessimism in past presentation. Haunted Highway provides a more objective platform where the viewership is less influenced by the case by case narratives. The reality show provides a new spin on unsolved mysteries that beg to be solved. The fascination for the paranormal continues to be popular and is sure to keep the viewer fascinated by its content.
