Fall TV Preview: FX Premiere Schedule and Trailers

Few networks (with the exception of AMC perhaps) can boast as much growth over the past few years than FX. The network has been a monster in terms of creating new content, at least as far as cable networks go, and has practically invented a new TV model that favors low-budget, high-quality shows over a lot of flash and pizzazz.

FX's slate is set to expand even more with the hope of having at least five original dramas and at least seven original comedies, so you can expect a lot out of them soon, starting with this fall. Some will survive (like "Sons of Anarchy" and "Justified" did) and some will fail (like "Terriers" and "Lights Out" did, sadly), but one way or another, they're getting there.

So what's coming up this fall? Read on to find out!

New Shows:

"American Horror Story" - Wednesday, Oct. 5th, 10pm ET/PT

FX likes to premiere its new comedies in the summer (see "Louie" and "Wilfred"), so you won't find any of them in the fall lineup. You will, however, find one of the most anticipated new dramas of 2011 in "American Horror Story." The show comes from "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy, but couldn't be more different from "Glee" in terms of tone. True to the title, "American Horror Story" is in the horror genre, but is expected to take the angle of a sexual thriller.

Murphy has also promised lots of mysteries to be brought up in the pilot and resolved by the end of the season, which should make it nice and addictive without pulling the rug out from other people (looking at you, "The Killing") or never answering anything without more questions (thanks, "Lost").

"American Horror Story" will star Connie Britton, last seen on "Friday Night Lights," as well as Dylan McDermott and Jessica Lange. The teaser trailers for the show are absolutely skin-crawlingly creepy. This one should be horror-ific.

Returning Shows:

"Sons of Anarchy" - Tuesday, Sept. 6th at 10pm ET/PT

One of FX's biggest dramas will return with a super-sized 90-minute premiere episode in early September, kicking off the fall season for the network.

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" - Thursday, Sept. 15th at 10pm ET/PT

The hit comedy that put FX on the map will be back in mid-September. And don't forget: we have Fat Mac to look forward to!

"Archer" - Thursday, September 15th at 10:30pm ET/PT

"The League" - Thursday, October 6th at 10:30pm ET/PT

"The League," a comedy following the childish antics of a group of friends in a fantasy football league, features an excellent cast and some great NFL and ESPN-affiliated guest stars.
