Fall 2011 TV Preview: The CW Premiere Schedule and Trailers

Fall 2011 TV Preview: The CW Premiere Schedule and Trailers It's gone through a number of failed shows and even a name change or two (remember when it was called The WB?), but The CW is now one of the hottest places for young viewers to find shows to love. Cult hits like "Gossip Girl" and "90210" are fine examples, but really all the proof you need is "The Vampire Diaries" to show that this is a network that knows what young audiences want.

There's a good mix of new and returning shows this fall, including a much-anticipated spinoff in the works...so read on to find out when they premiere!

New Shows:

"Ringer" - Tuesday, Sept. 13th at 9pm ET/PT

One of the more anticipated new shows of 2011, "Ringer" was shopped around at other networks but ended up at The CW due to full schedules. It's a good thing it found a home somewhere, because it looks like it's going to be a good one: Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a woman who must hide from the mob by assuming the identity of her twin sister...but life isn't quite so easy, or safe, in her new identity either.

Gellar is a veteran not only of TV but of the network, as she made her home on the WB back in the days of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." It'll be good to have her back. Keep an eye out for "Ringer."

"H8R" - Wednesday, Sept. 14th at 8pm ET/PT

Mario Lopez hosts this brand-new reality show, which could turn out to be really hilarious or pretty painful. The premise is this: celebrities are paired up with the everyday people who, for one reason or another, hate them with every fiber of their being. The celebs and the haters must then spend the day together and get to know each other, and at the end of the day the hater will decide whether the celeb has changed his or her mind or not.

The pilot episode features Snooki and Kim Kardashian meeting their haters, and we can only assume that some pure entertainment ensues. This could be the guilty pleasure of the fall season.

"The Secret Circle" - Thursday, Sept. 15th at 9pm ET/PT

With the success that the network has had with "The Vampire Diaries," it was only a matter of time before a spinoff was put into motion. "The Secret Circle" will borrow some of the mythology of "The Vampire Diaries" and inhabit the same universe, but will focus more on the witch aspect of the show than the whole vampire and werewolf business.

While "The Secret Circle" is part of "The Vampire Diaries" family, the producers have made it very clear that they want this show to stand on its own. In fact, a crossover between the two shows is very unlikely, at least until "The Secret Circle" has found its legs.

"Hart Of Dixie" - Monday, Sept. 26th at 9pm ET/PT

Rachel Bilson stars in this new series as Zoe Hart, a young doctor living in New York City who, after struggling to find a job in the city, moves down to Alabama for work. The show will have aspects of a medical drama, but will also have a bit of a "Sweet Home Alabama" type feel, playing up the charm of the American South. We can only assume that Hart will find some hunky southern gentlemen in Alabama as well, as "Friday Night Lights" alum Scott Porter is a regular on the show as well.

Returning Shows:

"90210" - Tuesday, Sept. 13th at 8pm ET/PT

"90210" will share an evening with "Ringer" this fall, providing a soap opera/thriller one-two punch. Characters will move on to college, propose marriage, and wear cowboy hats and little else.

"America's Next Top Model" - Wednesday, Sept. 14th at 9pm ET/PT

Wednesday night will be reality night, as "America's Next Top Model" will follow "H8R" in the lineup. This new season of the long-running show boasts an All-Star cycle for the first time ever, so you might see some familiar faces.

"The Vampire Diaries" - Thursday, Sept. 15th at 8pm ET/PT

The big one. This is probably the most-anticipated show on the network across the board, and with "The Secret Circle" now following on its heels, you can expect a Thursday full of romance, magic and fangs. Last season's finale left a lot of questions, so be sure to tune in for the premiere to find the answers.

"Nikita" - Friday, Sept. 23rd at 8pm ET/PT

This re-imagining of the Nikita character returns for another season in an action-packed Friday lineup. That's a move for the show from its former Thursday night post-"Diaries" slot, so we'll see if the numbers suffer as a result.

"Supernatural" - Friday, Sept. 23rd at 9pm ET/PT

The "other" supernatural drama on the CW, "Supernatural" returns for its seventh season this fall. Sam and Dean will be facing a new, stronger enemy this season, and will find themselves without their usual abilities.

"Gossip Girl" - Monday, Sept. 26th at 8pm ET/PT

Season five of the edgy teen drama comes back on Monday the 26th, and might feature some cast shake-ups. Elizabeth Hurley will join for a multi-episode arc, and Taylor Momsen will not be returning as a regular. She's been invited back as a guest star, but has said that she's quitting acting to focus on her music career. We'll see how that affects the show going forward.
