Gossip Girl provides a glimpse into the daily lives of privileged teens as they come of age, and reek melodramatic high class havoc, within a close knit community of ultra fashionable, poor little rich kids on the Upper East Side. Entailing a total of 121 episodes over six seasons, the show's concept is the fictional brainchild of Cecily von Ziegesar. Developed for television and produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, it stars Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford, Penn Badgely, and is narrated by Kristen Bell, the titular character. Shot primarily in Manhattan and Brooklyn, other locations have included the elite neighborhoods of Long Island's East End, Paris, and California.
Every episode begins at the Gossip Girl website homepage. A photo of the Upper East Side's it girl, Serena van der Woodsen, is shown, and a summary of past and future events is given.
Serena van der Woodsen (Lively) returns from a stint at a chichi New England boarding school, after having abruptly vanished some time in the past. Serena has skeletons aplenty in her closet, as does her entire circle of acquaintances and frenemies. For starters, Serena has slept with Nate Archibald (Crawford), boyfriend to her best friend Blair Waldorf (Meester). It is assumed this is why Serena bid NYC a prompt adieu months prior, but Serena's ex-friend, Gorgina (Michelle Trachtenberg), knows otherwise. She and Serena had rendezvoused at a hotel before Serena's departure, where they encountered a man who perished while high on drugs, and the whole fiasco unfolded on camera.
Meanwhile, the show's numerous romances are revealed via interactions between the lovers: Serena and Dan Humphrey (Badgley), a loner; Nick and Blair (who has bedded Nick's best friend Chuck); a brief dalliance shared by Dan's father and Serena's mother; Jenny Humphrey's (Momsen) and Blair's mentor-disciple relationship; and Vanessa Abrams (Jessica Szohr), Dan's former friend.
Seren'a secret is outed, and she and Dan break up. Blair and Chuck reunite after a summer apart, though at first deny their feelings for one another. The senior year of high school is chronicled, displaying each character at various stages in their arc. Upon the encouragement of Poppy Lifton (Tamara Feldman), another Upper East Side teen socialite, Serena gains in popularity as a socialite. Blair is intimidated by this development and some distance arises between them.
Elsewhere, Nate tries coming to terms with his father's unlawful history, busying himself by wooing Vanessa, who finds herself becoming steadily more entrenched in Upper East Side intrigues. On a lark, Jenny decides to become a fashion designer, and she bunts heads with her father, Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle). Dan, formerly the odd man odd, is suddenly front and center via his relationships, romantic and platonic, with Serena and Nate.
Rufus and Lily grow closer, while Blair determines to get into Yale. Chuck's meddlesome uncle, Jack Bass (Desmond Harrington), enters the story and begins making trouble following the death of his brother, Bart Bass (Robert John Burke), Lily's late husband. Blair, Dan, and Vanessa get accepted to New York University. A movie star, Olivia Burke (Hilary Duff) is one of their classmates, and she and Dan begin courting. Nate tries his luck at Columbia University while Serena sits out one year of school. Chuck takes over Bass industries, and Jenny rises to the top of the social heap at the Constance Billard School.
Serena serves as publicist to Ursula Nyquist (Tyra Banks), a famous and contrary actress who never suffers fools. Other Season 3 celeb cameos include Jimmy Fallon, Lady Gaga, and William Baldwin. Jenny pursues Nate, though he only has eyes for Serena. At the same time, Jenny's relationship with Eric (Connor Paolo) is strained as she has begun dealing drugs. Rufus sends her to spend a season with her mother in Hudson. Blair and Chuck take a stab at love, but fail miserably. Dan and Vanessa discover more-than-friendly feelings for each other. Serena's career and soul searching continues, and she beds Carter Baizen (Sebastian Stan), Nate's married cousin Tripp, and lastly Nate.
Serena eventually becomes romantically entangled with a former teacher, while a girl named Juliet Sharp (Katie Cassidy) secretly plots Serena's downfall. The Gossip Girl character continues to narrate, and Serena continues to try and discover her identity, several times coming very close, but never quite succeeding in solving the mystery.

Well, how cute is this! Former "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester is expecting her first child with husband Adam Brody! Popsugar was the first to break the news, spotting the glowing actress out and about in Los Angeles, sharing lunch with her hubby and sporting a considerable bump. The two have yet to confirm the news, but the couple is notoriously private about their personal life. They kept their courtship under wraps, and didn't reveal they had secretly wed in 2014 until four months after the fact (to date they have yet to formally comment) by appearing on the red carpet as man and wife.
The end of an era is here—“Gossip Girl” has wrapped up. Did you catch the final episode? The final episode of “Gossip Girl” is almost here, and it promises to leave its audience wanting more! Well too bad, because the series is done. And also, an important character will be dead. Who, you might ask? I’d love to tell you, but obviously, that’s intended to be a major surprise for the series finale. All I know is that the character has been on the show since the first season. The death will occur either December 10th or 17th, as the finale is broken into two episodes.
Will we finally meet the actual “Gossip Girl?” And will it be who we’re expecting? Kristen Bell, who is expecting her first child with fiance Dax Shepard, has narrated the show for six seasons. As it wraps to a close, Bell has been seen taping a cameo appearance for the finale episode, which airs December 17. There has been no confirmation yet on whether Bell will be stepping in as her snarky voice-over character, the mind behind the blog, or if she’ll be playing another unrelated character.
Well, the pictures are in of the ring that dream couple Ryan Reynolds locked Blake Lively down with, and it. Is. Impressive. The “Gossip Girl” and “Green Lantern” stars married in a surprise ceremony last week, bumming a large portion of us out. The two snuck away to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina to exchange some sneaky vows at Boone Hall Plantation. Guests were treated to songs by Florence Welch, of Florence + The Machine, who is a personal friend of Lively’s.
Raise a toast - or simply your coffee, if it's a tad early - to newly minted co-star newlyweds Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. After a year of dating, the pair whose road to the altar seemed to begin while paired for Warner Bros.' 2011 "Green Lantern" quietly tied the knot over the weekend, People.com confirmed. This comes after many weeks of speculation that the couple had married. A reportedly private, low-key ceremony Sunday night at Mt. Pleasant, S.C.'s Boone Hall Plantation south of Charleston joined the two in matrimony.
We can all only hope that Ryan Reynolds' and Blake Lively's respective parents didn't get wind of rumored wedding bells this way. If there's credence to a July 8 police report obtained by both Perez Hilton and TMZ recently, the coupled "Green Lantern" co-stars have secretly been Man and Wife nearly a week or so, at least. Reynolds contacted police in Bedford Hills July 8 claiming that he and his "Gossip Girl" star lady were getting a touch too much attention from a nearby photographer.
