Watch A Prayer Before Dawn

In this drama, an English boxer is stuck in a notoriously brutal Thai prison. He discovers that the only way he'll survive is to compete in violent Muay Thai mixed martial arts tournaments. The film is inspired by a true story. The film was originally set to star Charlie Hunnam, but he was replaced by Joe Cole. Billy Moore, a young British boxer and troubled heroin addict, is arrested in Thailand and charged with possession of stolen goods and a firearm. Incarcerated into Klong Prem prison, he is quickly subjugated to the horrors of Thai prison life, including being moved into a crowded mass cell ruled by cell boss Keng, forced to sleep next to a corpse and witnessing at knifepoint the rape of a fellow inmate. Billy's experiences with the other prisoners and personnel are tense, at one point going into a violent frenzy and biting into the neck of a corrections officer after being refused painkillers. The film is based on the true story of Billy Moore, a Brit who was imprisoned in Thailand for a drug offense. He was repatriated to the United Kingdom in 2010. Moore credits his recovery to Prisoners Abroad and Narcotics Anonymous. Moore currently lives in Liverpool, England. The film was received generally positive reviews from professional critics.
