This dramatic film is based on a Yevgeny Shvarts fairy tale. A magician wants to test his wife's fidelity and transforms a bear into a very handsome young man in order to see if she will succumb to another man's charms. He tells his wife that an enchanted young man who kisses a princess will turn back again into a bear. When the king and his daughter visit the magician, his wife and the young man, the young man leaves rather than kiss the princess and be transformed again into an animal. But the princess is determined to find him.
