This historical drama focuses on the war hero General Manuel Belgrano. At the turn of the 19th century, Belgrano was a lawyer, a politician and an economist. However, military leadership was in his future. During the Argentinian Wars of Independence from Spain, forces caused Belgrano to leave his civilian life behind, and he eventually commanded the Northern Army. Bajo el signo de la patria (Under the Sign of the Nation) is an Argentinian film based on actual historical events.
